A: By using photo enforcement to patrol residential parking zones, we are able to provide consistent enforcement across all types of permits. Photo enforcement technology allows the CPA to effectively enforce the requirement for visitors to park within 150 metres of the residence they are visiting by using GPS locators. This helps eliminate the practice of visitors parking on the edge of residential parking zones and then leaving the zone to take transit or go to another destination outside of the zone. The revised Calgary Traffic Bylaw 26M96 also gives the Calgary Parking Authority the ability to revoke the usage of a visitor permit if the permit holder contravenes the provisions of the bylaw.
